The M1 Active 520 is the third generation of the acclaimed Alesis M1 Active Series. The M1 Active 520 offers incredible bass and midrange definition and flat frequency response from its high-precision driver and professionally crafted crossover.

With a bold new look, redesigned driver, bass density control and EQ, this affordable, high-precision active reference monitor delivers superb sonic clarity.

    - 5"  low frequency woofer for clear bass and midrange - 3/4" silk dome tweeter for smooth, detailed highs without harshness - Bi-amplified design / tweeter – 25W,  woofer – 50W for ultra accurate frequency separation

I have a budget recording studio in my basement. It is fairly well equipped with a variety of equipment. I have been using a pair of Nady Monitors for years and have always considered them to sound "muddy" to me. I purchased these Alesis monitors and was pleasantly surprised they sounded so bright. Comparable with the ATH-M40fs headphones as far as sounding clean. The smaller woofers provide a surprising amount of clean bass. I did a remix using them and the performer was pleased that it was a slightly noticeable improvement on the first mixdown. I have read a lot of problems with the 8" version of these monitors regarding the power supplies. But none for these.
