The microphones can be powered with normal "plug-in-power", available on many portable recorders and camcorders. For use in high SPL (sound pressure level) situations, the microphones require additional power, beyond the normal "plug in power". You will need to add a battery module (power supply) or Phantom power kit as described below:

Option 1: Add a battery module for increased high SPL performance and dynamic range. You can add a basic battery module above and save $$ (SP-UPS-1 with no options shown here). There other modules with various options also available on this page if you prefer.

Option 2: Add the Phantom power adapter. This will allow you to use the mics with 9-52v Phantom power which is available on many professional mixers, mic preamps and recorders. When powered with Phantom power, the dynamic range and maximum SPL (sound pressure level) are increased even further (see specs below). The phantom power adapter is the Samson PM-4 and includes installation of a high quality locking mini XLR plug that mates with the PM-4 adapter.

Also available wired for "Dual mono" so that the mono signal appears on both channels of a stereo recorder (not available with phantom power option). Order "dual mono" option above. NOTE: Dual Mono version will not work with true mono recorders (like dictation recorders, etc). It is only for use with stereo recorders where you want the sound to be recorded on both channels. Some computer mic inputs provide power to the microphone in such a way that requires the dual mono option. If you are not sure, order the dual mono option.

The ES943/C is intended to be worn on the clothing for excellent, unobtrusive sound pickup. The microphone's wide-range capability ensures clean, accurate reproduction with high intelligibility for speakers, singers and other performers. Its low-profile element provides a uniform cardioid polar pattern with 120º acceptance angle . A recessed switch in the power module permits choice of flat response or low-frequency roll-off to help control undesired ambient noise.
