Belkin TuneTalk Stereo for iPod video Nabs the iLounge 2006 Best of Show Award

At Macworld Expo, Belkin shows its new TuneTalk Stereo, the first voice recorder for iPod video, to offer high-quality stereo recording

(Los Angeles, CA) - January 24, 2006 – Belkin Corporation took the iLounge Best of Show Award for its new TuneTalk Stereo, a new voice recorder for iPod video. iLounge made the announcement on January 11, at the 2006 Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco.

iLounge editors scoured both the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and Macworld Expo for iPod accessories that not only enhanced the iPod video and nano user experience, but that also stood out from the masses. Winners ranged from docking speaker systems and iPod remotes to cases.

Several companies have been working on microphone adapters for Apple’s latest iPods, says Jeremy Horwitz, iLounge Editor-in-Chief, but Belkin delivered the first actually working ones we’ve seen. We were impressed by TuneTalk Stereo’s compact, double-microphone design and clean sound, which make good use of the new iPod’s improved recording capabilities.

One of the many new iPod accessories to be showcased by Belkin at Macworld, TuneTalk Stereo features two directional microphones and a speaker for instant playback. A line-in jack connects an external microphone or electronic guitar for recording. The first product to record in stereo and mono, it will be offered in both black and white when it is formally released.

Create High-Quality Audio Recordings on Your iPod with video with the Belkin TuneTalk Stereo

Easily record podcasts, lectures, and interviews onto your iPod with video for CD-quality sound

(Compton, CA) - April 24, 2006 – With two high-quality omnidirectional microphones, the new Belkin TuneTalk Stereo lets you record memos, lectures, interviews, or conversations in full stereo. You can then review your CD-quality audio notes later by using your earbud headphones or computer. It will ship in North America in mid-June, with launches in Asia, Europe, and Australia to follow shortly.

In addition to TuneTalk Stereo’s built-in microphones, it features an auxiliary 3.5mm stereo-input jack so you can record with an external microphone. It includes a stand the size of a credit card so you can position your iPod with video toward the source. The stand’s compact size lets you neatly tuck it into your shirt pocket or wallet. And, its extended dock connector allows you to keep your case on your iPod with video when you connect the TuneTalk Stereo to it.

The capabilities of the iPod are plentiful, with voice recording as an emerging application, comments Gavin Downey, Director of Product Management - Mobility. There’s interest from both teachers and students for recording lectures in the classrooms. It’s also being used to record podcasts, where now anybody - amateurs and professionals alike - can air their thoughts and commentary on any subject. And, in the perfect mesh of the classroom environment and the growing popularity of podcasts, teachers are recording lectures, condensing them, and replaying them in podcast format to spice up otherwise heavy content.

You can also copy recordings to your desktop or notebook computer for storage, editing, or to send via email. Your iPod with video’s abundant storage capacity lets you store hundreds of hours of audio. No software to install—support is already built into the iPod. The TuneTalk Stereo is available in both black and white colors.

Features

    - Adjustable Gain Control Switch provides instant control over recording quality in different environments - Plastic Spacer provides additional stability when the iPod with video is not in a case

I know a lot of sound professionals who dismiss the iPod as a serious recording device. Maybe... But i have made recordings with an iPod, the TuneTalk Stereo module, and the BMC-1 binaural microphones that with only modest software processing has yielded good (if not excellent) ambiant/field sounds, and voice sounds (for singing). If you already have an iPod, for another $130 (tunetalk+binaural BMC-2 mikes), you'll get yourself a competent field recorder with good voice capabilities. SoundProfessionals have great service and i buy my equipment from them from now on. I just wish they had a price on the TuneTalk that rivaled the price for in-house products. Over a year after that product came out, you can now find it for under $50. But SoundProfesional will work to come close in price. So give them a call.
