Description:

The SP-OTTER-1 is an Omnidirectional stereo microphone that is built right into a water resistant black Otter Box™.

The microphones are built right into the wall of the box, with one mic located on each end of the box. Because the mics are black, they blend in well with the color of the box and are difficult to see unless the box is inspected closely. To use the 'microphone', simply place your recorder inside the box, plug the mic in and go! The box can be placed right on a table or other flat surface, on a mic stand with the optional mic stand adapter, or right on your lap at a live performance. Recordings can be made with box lid open or closed.

This microphone system has an extended frequency response and a very natural and accurate sound, providing deep, solid bass, smooth midrange and clean highs. It has a very wide dynamic range, and will handle very high sound pressure levels without distortion or clipping. For loud recordings, you need to add a microphone power supply. You can either add a small module that will fit in the box with your recorder like this one, or have the mics and battery module built into the Otter box permanently like this.

If you want to record quieter sounds with the lowest possible noise (hiss), then consider adding a microphone preamp to your Otter box. You can either add a small preamp that will fit in the box with your recorder like this one, or have the mics and preamp built into the Otter box permanently like this. Note that the preamp also provides the same power for the mics as the battery module mentioned above, so the preamp will also allow you to record loud sounds without distortion.
