Description:

The SP-SPSM-17 is a high quality stereo Omnidirectional microphone that can be plugged directly into the mic input jack of most portable recorders. The microphone is very rugged and has a die-cast metal body. The output connector is a stereo XLR male gold plated connector. Select an optional, removable cable in the pull-down menu above. A microphone stand adapter is included.

This microphone can be plugged into any recorder that supplies a bias voltage of between 1.5 and 10 Volts DC at the microphone input jack, commonly known as "plug in power". Many of the recorders on the market today include this feature. If your recorder does not have this power, you must have a battery module (as noted above) to power the microphone. If you would prefer a stereo microphone with this power built into the mic, look here. If you want to use this mic with your computer, you will need this device to provide the necessary power for the microphone.

Battery modules (power supplies)
In certain recording situations (especially loud situations), you may need a separate power source for your microphones. Visit our Battery Module FAQ for more info on why you would want to use a battery module. All of the single point stereo microphones are compatible with any of our battery power modules. See the battery module page for more details.

Sound Quality
The Sound Professionals microphone systems have an extended frequency response and a very natural and accurate sound, providing deep, solid bass, smooth midrange and clean highs. They have a very wide dynamic range, and will handle very high sound pressure levels without distortion or clipping. (See details above for more info). When combined with one of the battery modules, they are designed to operate into a nominal impedance of 10K Ohms.

4 out of 5 stars Solid but sensitive 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer   from Philadelphia, PA
Great price and fine construction. The only problem is that the built-in sensitivity is very high. Even after I set the sensitivity on my camera as low as I could, there was still brickwalling in the audio. Fortunately, I was able to send the microphone back to Sound Professionals and they lowered the sensitivity. That fixed the problem and now the microphone works great. (Soundpro note) - this mic normally comes with the high sensitivity mic elements. For most recorders, this is a good choice, but as noted here, there are exceptions. We can gladly make it with lower sensitivity elements if needed
