Instructions for setting up and using the SP-ZOOM-RECORDING-KIT

Please reference the following photo when assembling your kit. We will reference ZOOM in the instructions, however, the same instructions apply if you are using a different Teleconferencing program. On all connections, make sure they the male plugs are fully inserted into the female jacks.

Please follow these steps:

1 - Before plugging in this device for the first time (and anytime you switch to a different computer), you must install the driver program. Please click here to download and run the driver installation program for this product. When it finishes, please restart your computer.

2 - If your device running ZOOM has a standard headphone/microphone combo jack, connect the mobile adapter (5) to this jack. If it is an Apple device with no headphone jack, use the adapter (7) to make this connection. If your ZOOM device has separate headphone and microphone inputs, omit the mobile adapter (5) and skip this step. You will not need item 5 with this device.

3 - Connect either end of the patch cable (3) to the headphone jack on the mobile adapter (5) and the other end to the mic input (pink) on the USB adapter (2).

4 - Plug your earbuds (or headphones) (1) into the headphone jack (green) on the USB adapter (2). If you are using a headset instead of headphones, plug the headset connector from the headset into the green jack on (1).

5 - Plug the USB adapter into a USB port on the computer running your CAT or other recording program. The blue light should illuminate on the USB adapter (2).

6 - Plug your microphone (6) into the microphone input on the mobile adapter (5). Clip the microphone onto yourself (if desired). If you are using a headset instead of the lapel mic, plug the microphone connector from the headset into the microphone jack on (5).

7 - Open the Audio Commander ( referred to as "AC" hereinafter) program on the computer running your CAT or other recording program. In the microphone enhancements section, leave "noise cancellation" checked and uncheck everything else in this section. Set the microphone boost to "0dB". In the recording section of AC, set the recording level control to 80%.

8 - Move your mouse pointer into the rectangular window of the playback section. When it becomes a hand, left click on the blue words one time to open the Windows sound configuration window. In this window, look for your computer's internal soundcard. Hint: It will likely be a device labeled "speakers" or "speakers/headphones" and will NOT have the name "Andrea" in the description. Right click on this device and select "set as default device". Now look for the device with the word "Andrea" in the description and double left-click it. Click on the levels tab. Set the Speaker level to 100% and the microphone level to 30%. If either the microphone or speakers are muted , click on this icon to unmute them. Click OK to close the sound window.
