New! The next generation in Binaural In-ear microphones have 17dB less noise (hiss), 10dB more sensitivity and 10dB higher max SPL than our standard model. They measure an amazing 19dB of equivalent self noise. This means that your recording will have noticeably less background hiss and greater dynamic range than previously possible with in-ear binaural microphones! Compare these to the best omnidirectional microphones anywhere and you will see why these offer the highest level performance at fraction of the cost of other similar mics.

The MS-TFB-2 Sound Professionals In-Ear Binaural microphones are mounted in extremely comfortable super-soft, In-Ear holders that slip right into the ear structure. Why put microphone here you ask?

Pretty simple, really. There have been many 'binaural' microphone designs over the years.......mics built into fake heads, built into Croakies, made with clips for attaching to glasses, built into headphones and earbuds.
All of these have one flaw......none actually put the mic element in the best possible place for the most realistic recording within the Pinna (the part of the human ear that is visible the folds on the outside). Even earbud Binaurals have the mic element outside the Pinna. Because everyone's Pinna is unique, recording made in your own ears will sound the most realistic.
These mics put the mic element right next to the ear canal, well within the Pinna. This results in the most realistic recording possible, from the perspective of the person wearing them.
While recording, your hearing is not impaired, so you can enjoy the sound of the performance while making very realistic recording. The cables terminate in a stereo 1/8" (3.5mm) gold-plated miniplug. Black cable models have straight plugs, Beige cables use right-angle plugs.

Recommended accessories:

    - Windscreens: Since there are some variances in the shape of the human ear, and especially for customers with larger than average ears, and/or for windy situations, soft foam windscreens are available. These windscreens are acoustically transparent, and allow sound to pass through to your ears and the microphones completely unchanged. They are available in natural off-white (beige) color and in standard black. These are also handy for those recordists who need the microphones to be very unobtrusive as they completely cover the mic element.
    - Microphone power supply (Battery Modules): For loud recording situations, the mics need more power than typical recorder can provide. You can also use battery module to adjust bass response and adjust levels. See the details on each module for features and specifications.

      - Flat frequency response
      - Extremely low noise for the quietest recordings (75dB signal to noise ratio)
      - Very high sensitivity -32dB
      - High maximum sound pressure level (SPL): 115dB with normal "plug-in-power" and 130dB with one of our power modules
      - Omni-directional pickup pattern
      - Small size
      - Right angle miniplug
      - Can be used directly with any recorder that has "plug-in-power" or with battery module
      - Produces extremely realistic recordings

5 out of 5 stars Amazing, incredible and thrilling 10/19/2014

Ok, here's the scoop, I am a total neophyte when it comes to recording anything, especially live musical performances. I got the most amazing recording--no noise, incredible tone, rich and silky smooth up and down the scale my very first time (which was last month). It's actually hard to believe how good my recording was. I happened to hear a recording of the same concert with someone (a) using a $600, 3 lb Marantz versus my $200 Roland R-05, that weighs about 8 ounces and fits in jeans pocket (b) they extensively mastered their audio afterwards; mine came straight off the SD card. I probably had a better seat to record from and sure, I recorded at a higher bit rate than this guy but I have trouble he would have had results to match (or at least exceed) my binaural recording, given how muck more details and depth I had in mine. Oh, and by the way, he was using $2800 Schoeps CCM 41V microphones...!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Buy 08/06/2014

I bought these microphones for binaural audio voice recordings. Background noise is very low while the microphones pick up everything else making it sound crisp and clear. Where this product truly shines is in just how life-like the sounds are. In the past, I've had my dog jump down from my bed while I'm recording. Upon listening back on the recording many hours later, it sounded EXACTLY like my dog had just jumped off my bed behind me to the point I couldn't tell if the sound came from the recording or not. I was amazed at that. Great product. 10/10 would bang

4 out of 5 stars Master Series In-Ear Binaural Mics reviewed 00/00/0000

The in-ear binaural microphones from the sound professionals bring to life, the audio around you. If your looking for a complete 3D emersion, you need to look no further. The new Master series brings up the volume, and down the noise making recordings that much more life like. The shielded cable option truly shields, it's like I've got XLR cables but I'm only using a gold plated 8th inch running into my Zoom H1 recorder. If your wanting to record high volume sounds such as loud music or loud bangs, I'd suggest you invest in a power module, as my experience with the H1 clips easily. You may listen to an in depth, side by side comparison of both models of In-Ear Binaural microphones here: Included: an explanation of binaural recording, when to use, and not to use, noise floor tests, an A/B comparison, traffic examples in front, to each side, and behind, music, in front, behind, and 360 deg panning, radio shield tests and more.
