4 out of 5 stars well made product with minor oversight 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer   from California
This is a well made product with black XLR plugs, less obtrusive-looking than the more common silver-colored plugs. There's good strain relief on all the connectors. One minor oversight is that the two cables and the two XLR plugs look identical to each other. Without using a voltmeter or doing a sound check, there's no way to tell which of the two XLR plugs is for the left channel and which is for the right channel. The best fix would be to use differing colors of heat shrink tube in the strain relief for the left and right XLR plugs. There's no reasonable way to do this, or to put heat shrink around either cable, with an already-assembled adapter though. I'm going to have to put pieces of tape on the cables instead, which is uglier and more likely to fall off. Soundpro response: We don't mark the plugs because not all miniplugs have left and right wired the same, so labeling them could potentially result in a backward cable. Once the customer has the cable, they can easily put a dot of nailpolish on one of the connectors to signify one of the channels.

4 out of 5 stars How about a version with shorter cable 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer   from Calif
I bought the version with an 8" cable and posted a review a little earlier suggesting that the XLR plugs be marked to make it easier to tell the left channel from the right channel. I also want to suggest making a version with a shorter cable, like 1 or 2 inches instead of 8 inches. I'm using the adapter with the Marantz PMD660 and the XLR jacks are right next to each other. So the 8" cable just flops around unnecessarily. We don't mark the plugs because not all miniplugs have left and right wired the same, so labeling them could potentially result in a backward cable. Once the customer has the cable, they can easily put a dot of nailpolish on one of the connectors to signify one of the channels.

3 out of 5 stars zoom h4 converter? 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer   from CA
This is more a question for the support staff. I like this product. Can i use this to connect my Zoom h4 recorder xlr inputs to a 1/8"stereo microphone ? Has anyone used this? Thanks Staff: Yes, as long as you order it with the phantom option.

Is this really needed for H4? 00/00/0000
Reviewer: A viewer   from Berkeley, CA
I am not sure that this is needed for connecting mini mics to the H4, since the H4 accepts (unbalanced) 1/4" inputs, in addition to XLR. I have an old but wonderful Otter box with Omni mini mics plus 9v power that I got to go with a minidisc recorder. I am able to reuse the mics with my H4 by a miniplug to 1/4" adapter and a 1/4 stereo to 2 mono Y cable, disabling phantom power on the H4.

5 out of 5 stars Excelent product, exceeded expectations 00/00/0000
Reviewer: Blake G   (blakeblind@gmail.com) from Roy, UT USA
When I initially received this product, I thought it would be two-inch XLR cables with a box at the end with the 3.5MM mail input jack on it, as I wasn't able to see any pictures on the page. Instead, I was surprised to find that it only contained cables, no bulky electronics. When I connected the set of binaural microphones I received from the sound professionals, they were louder than I thought, though I believe that was due to the high-sensativity option I selected when ordering them. I was pleased, as I didn't want to receive sound from the pre-amplifiers on my AudioBox USB, another excelent product the sound professionals cells. I have made some initial recordings with very good results and am quite pleased.
